Two-day Mental Health First Aid Course in Wickepin

In February, we delivered a two-day Mental Health First Aid course in Wickepin, training nine new Mental Health First Aiders! These incredible individuals are now equipped with the skills to support their communities, colleagues, friends, and families when they need it most.

Some key takeaways from participants:

  • Mental health isn’t always visible – things aren’t always as they seem.
  • How to approach and support someone experiencing a mental health challenge.
  • The importance of self-care for Mental Health First Aiders.
  • How to have safe, supportive conversations about suicide.

As always, we heard how much regional communities value and need more in-person mental health training opportunities.

“The group who attended the training at Wickepin CRC were an absolute pleasure to work with,” said Mark Davies, MHFA Trainer.

“I’ve rarely experienced such enthusiasm to engage and learn how to best support colleagues, friends, and families who are struggling with mental health.”

A big thank you to CBH Group and Wickepin CRC for partnering with us in the CBH Regional Mental Health Program, now in its fifth year! Wickepin CRC went above and beyond with its support. Their generosity and commitment to community well-being make programs like this possible.

As part of this program, we offer free Mental Health First Aid training to regional communities. If you’d like to bring this training to your town, contact us!
