MIFWA joins Tackling Tobacco Program

MIFWA is committed to supporting the wellbeing of consumers, participants, carers and our staff.

People with mental health challenges smoke tobacco at higher rates than the general population. As a result, are more likely to be affected by tobacco-related death, disease and financial stress.

The lack of access to accurate information and support for those managing mental health conditions to reduce and quit contributes to high smoking rates.

To increase opportunities for the people we support and staff to live healthy smoke free lives, MIFWA have partnered with Cancer Council WA to identify ways to embed supports to reduce and quit into our routine service delivery.

We have recently established a steering group and developed a project plan and key aims. We’ll post updates as we progress our initiatives.
