Do I need to live in a certain area to receive assistance?
No, MIFWA Carer Support provides support across the Perth metropolitan area. People who live in regional WA can receive support via online and phone support. Additionally, MIFWA provides training workshops in regional areas, that carers can attend. At times we offer free places for carers in these regions to attend the training.
I have my own experience of mental health challenges, can I attend carer activities?
Yes, you can attend. Keep in mind that family carers speak openly about their experiences, and this could be triggering when people feel vulnerable. If you feel unwell, look after yourself first and discuss your participation with a Carer Support team member.

Young people 16 to 18 years could attend group activities with a parent or guardian, assessed on a case-by-case basis. We can refer you to some services that offer support to young carers.

Our services are for those in a current caring role or wishing to be in a caring role. Past hurts and traumas are real, we encourage you to seek support from a MIFWA Carer Support team member to discuss your options.
